Today, we are doing the season’s first advocacy tale and the person of interest is Jody Springborn! She is the creator of the comprehensive bunny care website "The Educated Rabbit," is an educator at The House Rabbit Society, and is the author of the book, First Aid Guide for the Domestic Rabbit. We’ll learn why she started "The Educated Rabbit" and get some important tips about bunny care.

Bad Vet: The Abuse of Josie - Wayne Gilchrist (Macomb County, MI, 2022)

There’s a clinic in Shelby Township, Michigan, called Companion Animal Care Clinic. The owner, Wayne Gilchrist, describes his practices as “a full-service veterinary hospital that specializes in compassionate care and the highest-quality medical, surgical, dental and wellness health care for dogs and cats...We get to know our patients and their owners. You become part of our family.”

After seizing the Australian serial animal killer and sexual assaulters digital devices, the police discovered that an American man, Lucas Russell Vanwoert, was also a part of the creation and distribution of animal crush videos. Listen to find out more. 

*There is some conflict on when Lucas was arrested. Some sources say September 27, while others say October 6. September 27 was not used in this episode because the criminal complaint stated that he was free to go after questioning. 

UPDATE: Lucas wife, Heather Vanwoert, was arrested and charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty.

1Bitch9Pups - One of Australia’s Worst Animal Abuse Cases (McMinns Lagoon, Darwin, Australia)

UPDATE: Adam Britton pled guilty on Mon. 9/25/23 to bestiality and transmitting child abuse material. [1]

Today, we are traveling Down Under to McMinns Lagoon, Darwin, Australia. In 2022, a 51-year-old was arrested for creating and distributing animal abuse videos featuring 1 mom pitbull and her 9 pups. In all the videos a dog is killed. The case has been deemed one of the worst animal cruelty cases ever in the country. Listen to find out more.
